Let’s rewind to 1928 and transport ourselves to Lake Lugano, Switzerland. Found on the border between Switzerland and Italy, Lake Lugano sits very close to its Italian (lake) sisters, Como and Maggiore. Its glacial waters stem from a number of small mountain streams that surround it.
Humble beginnings
Antonio Mantegazza, a Swiss local, had a busy job transporting lumber across Lake Lugano using his family’s rowboat. It comes as no surprise that Antonio was so inspired by his surroundings. After all, Switzerland boasts some of Europe’s most picturesque scenes! He decided he would love to share stories of his home with visitors as he rowed them across the lake. Antonio’s venture was so successful that he outgrew his rowboat and expanded to bus touring from Switzerland to Europe and then, the rest of the world. And, as they say, the rest is history and we have been rowing toward awe and wonder since 1928.
