Despite not being overly well-known, Bariloche has plenty going for it. This picturesque alpine town is located on the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi in the Lake District of Argentina. Bariloche is surrounded by the almighty Andes Mountain ranges and glossy lakes, acting as a handy gateway to Chile and Patagonia. It is also highly regarded for its chocolate production, earning it the moniker of chocolate capital of Argentina.

Whilst exploring Bariloche, you’ll see its city hall, Municipality Square and chocolate factories; and enjoy a drive around Llao Llao Peninsula and nearby bays. And for the best views of this gorgeous area? Cosmos has included a chairlift ride up Cerro Campanario to a lofty lookout point with 360-degree views.

You can’t visit Argentina and not spend time in the cosmopolitan capital city, Buenos Aires. Regarded as the ‘Paris of South America’ with its wide boulevards, cafe culture and fantastic shops, Buenos Aires is a wonderful mix of Europe with South America, and the old with the new. This extends to its architecture, traditions, cuisine and art scene.

Your sightseeing tour with Cosmos includes many of Buenos Aires’ top sights – Teatro Colón Opera House, Plaza de Mayo, Metropolitan Cathedral, and Recoleta Cemetery. Your time here wouldn’t be complete without a traditional Argentinian meal followed by a sensuous tango show, too. With your free time, we recommend exploring La Boca, one of the oldest, most colourful neighbourhoods, or joining an optional excursion to a working estancia. On the farm, you’ll meet local gauchos (cowboys), witness traditional dance performances and drool over a BBQ lunch.

Iguassu Falls

A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984, Iguassu Falls thrills millions of visitors every year. Iguassu Falls and its river system form a natural border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Whilst 80% of the falls are on the Argentinian side, you’ll witness this astounding natural wonder from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides on a Cosmos tour. Get up close and personal by strolling along the boardwalks situated above the rushing waters, including the popular Devil’s Throat lookout.

There is also a lush rainforest in the Iguassu National Park. Your introduction to this wild, green space begins with a short ride on an open-air Ecological Jungle Train. If this piques your interest, don’t miss the optional Bird Park excursion. This is a haven, and home, for many endemic birds and flora.

Argentina is a whirlwind of colour, smells, and scenes – culminating in a feast for the senses. Join Cosmos on a tour through South America to experience these incredible places for yourself.
