This beloved sport was founded with only 10 teams and has now grown to 32 teams with a season spanning 17 weeks and 256 games. The season ends with the pinnacle event – Super Bowl, held in the first week of February – which attracts viewers from around the world with its famous halftime show.

The US Open is the fourth and final Grand Slam tennis tournament, held after the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon in late August. Since 1978, people have flocked to Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York City to watch tennis greats like Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff battle it out.

Did you know that basketball’s epic three-point shots weren’t introduced to the NBA until 1979? The first one was made by Chris Ford of the Boston Celtics. With big names (past and present) like Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Larry Bird, you may be able to time your holiday with a NBA game if visiting between October to June.

The NHL spans North America with 25 American and 7 Canadian teams showing extreme speed and skill on the ice rink. The main season is held from October to April, before the annual Stanley Cup playoffs.

Batter up! Known as ‘America’s favourite pastime’, baseball season is a firm favourite. Starting in late March, the baseball season runs through to the World Series which are held in October. The New York Yankees are prolific MLB champions, having won 27 of 41 appearances.
