Once you enter the friendly and quaint town of Banff, there are plenty of things to do and see. From shopping for quirky souvenirs to riding the gondola up to Sulphur Mountain soaking in the magical views of the town or embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go on a helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies.

Lake Louise

A beautiful and romantic lake you can tick off your bucket list while travelling in the Canadian Rockies. Go for a stroll around the lake and take a seat to soak in the views; go canoeing on the lake for a more intimate experience or take one of the many hiking trails. Lake Louise is bounded by many natural beauties – the glacial mountains and the fragrant pine trees. If you have some spare time, you can also dine in the marvellous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise at the Poppy Brasserie to get a panoramic view of the lake.

Moraine Lake, Banff

Picture perfect is an understatement. The natural beauty of this lake will leave you in awe at first glance. The turquoise water may have you fooled in pictures but guess what? It is real as ever can be. Some believe the colour is a result of the reflection of the blue sky by the water surface, but this isn’t quite accurate. The colour is due to the glacier sediment rocks or rock flour, which is common for many glacial lakes. Although you might be awe-struck from the beauty, be sure to view the lake from all angles – take a quick hike up the Rockpile Trail, walk around the basin of the lake or rent a canoe for the ultimate experience.

Maligne Lake, Jasper

An optional excursion you don’t want to miss! One of the most spectacular areas of Jasper National Park, Maligne Lake offers great insight into the history of the First Nations. Hop onboard a boat and sail through the lake – you might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the soaring bald eagle! As you disembark the boat, you will see the wonderful Spirit Island that is surrounded by crystal blue water. This moment can be quite magical since the island holds many untold stories. Make sure to get your camera ready as this is arguably one of the most photographed places in the Canadian Rockies!
