With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, why not gift a holiday to your favourite person to create treasured memories together? To get you started, here are five stunning landscapes to travel to with your loved one.
1. Milford Sound, New Zealand
New Zealand is world-famous for its pristine landscapes and Milford Sound is no exception. There is a real range of terrain from cascading waterfalls and rugged cliffs to tropical rainforests and rippling waters. When you’re done admiring what lies above the surface, you can turn to the marine life. Keep your eyes peeled for seals, penguins and dolphins! Milford Sound even has an underwater observatory so you can see what calls these waters home from 30 metres deep.
2. Lake District National Park, England
Considered to be the finest national park in England, the Lake District National Park is home to pristine landscapes that attracts travellers and locals alike. If you and your loved one are keen outdoor enthusiasts, then put this on your bucket lists today. Visit in summer and you can hike, paddleboard and go boating; visit in winter and you can hit the slopes with your skis or snowboards. It’s easy to see why the Lake District has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
3. Bariloche, Argentina
Bariloche is full of surreal landscapes. Set on the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche is centred at the heart of Argentina’s Lake District. Not only is it an alpine resort city, but it’s also regarded as the chocolate capital of Argentina! A popular experience is a chairlift ride to a lookout point at Cerro Campanario, sitting at a lofty 3,400 feet above sea level. From the ground and air, you’ll marvel at the vistas of pristine lakes and the peaks of the Andes.
4. Paros, Greece
While it may not be as hot property as its sister islands of Mykonos or Santorini, Paros is still a Grecian island beauty. Sink your toes into the soft sand and inviting waters along one of its beautiful beaches; walk hand-in-hand with your loved one through the alleyways of one of its traditional villages; or indulge in a gyros as the sun goes down. Did you now that Paros used to be famous for its white marble quarries? The island supplied the material for some of Greece’s most important structures like the Acropolis and Temple of Zeus.
5. Lake Louise, Canada
Lake Louise is one of the most popular destinations in Canada. With its dazzling turquoise waters, the clarity creates a natural mirror effect reflecting the majestic Banff National Park mountains. But, come winter, Lake Louise freezes over which creates an extra magical atmosphere. A beautiful sight no matter the season.
We hope these spectacular landscapes have given you some inspiration to plan a trip with your loved one. You can visit them on one of our Globus or Cosmos tours!
