We hope this list of essentials answers your ‘what to pack for a coach tour’ questions. Read on to find out more.

Travel journal

What better way to reminisce about your tour, than by keeping a travel journal? Whether you prefer dot points, detailed paragraphs or sticking ticket stubs in there, a physical reminder of your holiday captures all those memorable moments. You may have some ‘driving days’ while on tour – turn this into useful journalling time.

We all know that Mother Nature can be unpredictable, even in summer! Pack a raincoat or windbreaker that will keep you warm and dry for unexpected downpours or wind gusts.

Active wear

When you arrive in a new city on a coach tour, a walking tour is often included. Whether it’s an orientation tour to help get your bearings, or a more in-depth tour, active wear and a pair of comfortable walking shoes are a must. You don’t want to miss out on the fascinating commentary from your Tour Director or Local Guide!

Other clothing

If your tour includes a visit to a religious site, please ensure you pack a long-sleeved shirt, pants or even a scarf (for females). This should cover your knees and shoulders so you can gain entry.

Suitcase

Globus and Cosmos tours allow one piece of luggage per guest to travel in the main hold on each tour. It should measure no more than 76cm x 53cm x 28cm and weigh 22 kilograms or less. Bear in mind that Globus tours include hotel porterage for one bag per guest.

Backpack

A backpack is a travel essential, no matter if you’re on a tour or not! Bring one along that can fit your drink bottle, a jumper or raincoat if the weather is looking dicey, and any other small items. You can store this either under the seat in front of you, or in the small luggage hold above your seat, on your coach.

Reusable drink bottle

Your hotel will be able to refill your drink bottle with safe drinking water each morning. It’s a great idea to bring a reusable bottle instead of buying a new bottle from the supermarket every day.

GlobusGO or CosmosGO app

Make sure you download the GlobusGO or CosmosGO app on your smart phone before you leave your home country. This includes an array of helpful information for you to navigate your tour before, and during, it. The app has built-in GPS that can operate offline, and even recommendations for local restaurants and safe drinking water stations*

Travel credit card and cash

Much of the world uses credit cards as a form of payment these days. Do your research on the best travel credit card for you before you leave – your bank may have a great deal, or a generic one like Wise is a good option, too. We also recommend carrying a small amount of local currency. This can be useful in situations like buying a small gift from a local market, using a restroom, or tipping a Local Guide.

Sun protection

Slip, slop, slap! A good quality sunscreen, hat and sunglasses are essential for any holiday; not just a coach tour.

Travel adaptor

Even if you’re crossing multiple borders to countries with different power points, gone are the days of packing several travel adaptors. Luckily, universal travel adaptors are a common item you can purchase nowadays! We also recommend packing a small power board which means you can charge multiple devices at once overnight, using just one travel adaptor.
