A luxurious train journey is just the ticket to exploring the world in a new light. That’s why Globus and Cosmos have partnered with Rocky Mountaineer to produce a combined coach tour and rail holiday so you can experience the Canadian or Colorado Rockies at their very best. Here’s what to expect on a Rocky Mountaineer train journey.
Endless views
The views are second to none onboard your Rocky Mountaineer train. Travel is purposely carried out in daylight hours, so you won’t miss a single bit of the passing scenery! They have thoughtfully designed their carriages to maximise the scenery, no matter if you travel in SilverLeaf or GoldLeaf class. SilverLeaf features oversized windows that allow you to see it all from the comfort of your seat, along with an outdoor viewing area. The GoldLeaf carriage windows stretch from beside your seat to overhead, complete with a viewing platform. We should also mention SilverLeaf Plus – an option on Rocky Mountaineer’s US route that includes a designated lounge car for extra room (and views!).
World-class hospitality
From the moment you’re welcomed onboard, your Rocky Mountaineer hosts are there to make this a seamless experience. Not only will they entertain you with engaging stories, but they’re also knowledgeable guides with the sharpest eyes to spot any wildlife on the way! Rocky Mountaineer also ensures that your luggage is taken from train to hotel (and back again) for your overnight stay, so all you have to do is relax.
Indulgent meals
You certainly won’t go hungry when travelling with Rocky Mountaineer. Meals have been inspired and sourced from regional vendors, from the stone fruit in Okanagan made into a tart-but-sweet compote, to the chicken from a local farm in Fraser Valley. Sit back and enjoy two-course breakfasts, three-course lunches, snacks, hot drinks and a variety of alcoholic beverages. If travelling in SilverLeaf, meals will be delivered right to your seat; and in GoldLeaf, you’ll eat in the lower dining room in your carriage. Bon appetit!
Jaw-dropping sights
A Rocky Mountaineer train journey will showcase all kinds of scenery. From cascading waterfalls and lush rainforests to rugged canyons and towering mountains, some of these natural wonders can only be seen by train. Highlights include:
- Ruby Canyon
Featured on the Rockies to the Red Rocks route, Ruby Canyon is named for its deep red and burnt orange sandstone walls. It runs for 40 kilometres alongside the Colorado River.
- Spiral Tunnels
Often described as Canada’s most remarkable rail passage, experience the Spiral Tunnels for yourself on Rocky Mountaineer’s First Passage to the West route. This marks the highest point between Vancouver and Banff.
- Mount Robson
At almost 4,000 metres high, Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. It’s a truly remarkable sight to see on the Journey through the Clouds route.
