Famous streets

Bourbon Street, New Orleans

New Orleans

Located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Bourbon Street is abuzz with the sounds of jazz, blues and Cajun tunes. You can’t help but be drawn into the heartbeat of this fabulous city! We recommend walking along the street and visiting wherever takes your fancy – whether that be a bar, restaurant or club.

Beale Street, Memphis

Beale Street, Memphis

Another such central street is Beale Street in Memphis. Lined with live music bars and clubs, you’ll be spoilt for choice as to where you park up to get your toes tapping. Whilst Memphis is nicknamed ‘Blues City’, Beale Street also offers jazz, rock ‘n’ roll and gospel music. It was here that B.B. (Blues Boy) King earnt his big break before starting his impressive 60+ year career.

Famous studios

Sun Studios, Memphis

World-famous for being ‘The Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, Sun Studios is still recording hit after hit today. Notable artists like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash have recorded their soulful songs here, launching them into the stardom that we know of today.

RCA Studio B, Nashville

Recording studio

RCA Studio B is Nashville’s oldest recording studio with an incredible history to boot. It coined the term ‘Nashville Sound’ – a unique style of country music with background vocals and string sections. Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley have all graced RCA Studio B with their presence, and you can too!

Famous music venues

Ryman Auditorium, Nashville

Ryman Auditorium

With its impressive acoustics and gorgeous architecture, Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium is one of the sweetest belles of the Southern States. Now designated a National Historic Landmark, the ‘Mother Church of Country Music’ was the original home to the Grand Ole Opry for over 30 years.

Grand Ole Opry, Nashville

When the Grand Ole Opry outgrew the Ryman Auditorium, a purpose-built music venue was the best option. It had to continue the legacy for generations of country musicians to come, and it has certainly done so by welcoming artists like Keith Urban, Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift to its stage. The Grand Ole Opry holds two prolific titles that Nashville, and the Southern States, are proud to hold – the nation’s longest running music show, and the world’s best country music venue (since 1925). Your Globus or Cosmos tour includes tickets to a Grand Ole Opry show and will easily be a highlight of your travels!

With so much history behind its incredible music scene, now is the time to book a tour of the Southern States with Globus or Cosmos
